My Journey: A Tale of Resilience and Triumph

Hey there! Grab a cozy seat and let me take you on a rollercoaster ride through my life – a journey filled with twists, turns, and triumphs.

The Unexpected Beginning: At 19, I found myself staring at the reality of being a single teen mom. The emotions were a whirlwind – doubt, fear, and the overwhelming sense of having let my family down. But amidst all that, there was a spark of excitement. I was about to meet the little boy who would change my world forever.

Taking a Leap of Faith: Fast forward to 2016. My passion for helping others got a major boost when one of my closest friends nudged me to apply for a position at Family Services. Can you believe it? At that time, I didn’t have a single degree, and I was filled with self-doubt. But my friend's faith in me was infectious. So, I went for it! And guess what? I landed the job right in my hometown county! It felt like coming full circle – from seeking help to extending a helping hand. The joy of making a difference in people's lives was indescribable.

Back to School: Fueled by my friend's belief in my potential, I took the courageous step to return to school in 2017 at the age of 29. Juggling motherhood, full-time work, and academic pursuits felt like climbing a mountain. But in 2020, against all odds, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Summa Cum Laude. It was a proud moment, a testament to resilience and perseverance.

Embracing New Challenges: Life threw another curveball in 2020. Amidst personal struggles and a tumultuous relationship, I welcomed my second child. Balancing motherhood with academic deadlines, even from a hospital bed, was challenging. But I refused to let go of my dreams.

Defying Expectations: In the Fall of 2020, with a newborn on my hip and a heart full of determination, I embarked on a new chapter. By June 2022, I had earned my Master’s in Human Resource Management, defying all expectations.

Breaking Free: September 2022 marked the end of a five-year rollercoaster ride. I made the toughest decision of my life – to break the cycle of abuse. Walking away wasn’t just mentally draining; it felt like physical torture. The aftermath left me with severe depression, PTSD, and anxiety.

Healing and Advocacy: In the midst of the storm, I realized the urgency of prioritizing my mental well-being. Taking a leave of absence from work, I sought professional help and dedicated myself to healing. This experience ignited a passionate flame within me for mental health advocacy. I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of seeking help and doing the work.

A New Adventure: Life’s all about embracing the unknown, right? So here I am, diving headfirst into new adventures, ready to sprinkle some of that magic dust on everything I touch.

My Mission: Turning My Story into Hope: My mission is to turn my rollercoaster journey into a beacon of hope for others. Because when life throws you curveballs, you grab 'em and run with 'em – and maybe even turn 'em into a slam-dunk success story.
